Bollywood star, Alia Bhatt, is set to make her Hollywood debut in a villainous role in Tom Harper’s “Heart of Stone“, where she stars alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. The film is releasing on Friday, 11th August 2023.
This marks a significant shift for Bhatt, who has never played a villain in her Bollywood career.
In the film, Bhatt’s character, Keya Dhawan, aims to steal the “Heart” from Gadot’s character, Rachel Stone.
Alia opened up about her role to the Hindustan Times. “To me, I’m not the bad guy,” Bhatt explained. “Keya’s drive for the Heart is grounded in purpose. She believes in her mission, and in her perspective, she’s the right person for it.”
She further discussed the challenges of her role. “As Keya, I had to convey both sides of her with precision and focus. In her mind, she’s not the antagonist. Hence, portraying that conviction as an actor was crucial,” the actress mentioned.
Gal Gadot, known for her iconic role as Wonder Woman, highly praised Alia.
She described their professional relationship as one of the “smoothest” she’s ever experienced, highlighting their shared dedication to work and strong family values.
Director Tom Harper echoed Gadot’s sentiments, lauding Bhatt’s performance. He described Alia as a “formidable and intelligent talent with immense charisma.”
The highly-anticipated “Heart of Stone” will premiere on Netflix this Friday.
