Shah Rukh Khan’s latest action-thriller, “Jawan”, directed by Atlee, has set the box office on fire with a staggering first-day collection of Rs 75 crore, alone in India.
The Jawan’s Hindi version’s first-day collection alone raked in Rs 68 crore, while the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions contributed Rs 65 crore and Rs 3 crore, respectively. The film earned the largest worldwide box office collection on its first release day, 7th September.
The film’s booking witnessed an overwhelming response, making it one of the all-time top five advance grossers at national multiplexes. “Jawan” surpassed major blockbusters like “Thugs of Hindostan”, “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo“, and “Dangal” in its pre-release phase.
On its opening day, “Jawan” attracted massive audiences across India. The film’s reception suggests it might even surpass the collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s previous film, “Pathaan”, in the coming days.
The film’s storyline revolves around a commando-turned-vigilante, played by Khan, who collaborates with a group of women to address societal wrongs.
Alongside Khan, the Jawan collection in India boasts a stellar cast, including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Girija Oak, and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya. “Jawan” is available in theatres in 2D and IMAX formats in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Trade analyst Sumit Kadel anticipates that if the positive word of mouth continues, “Jawan” could amass a net box office collection of Rs 250 crore to Rs 300 crore.
With such a grand opening and the buzz surrounding it, “Jawan” is undoubtedly on its way to becoming one of the year’s biggest hits.
