Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan are set to provide crucial statements against Sameer Wankhede, the embattled officer in charge at the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) considers their testimonies pivotal in unraveling a web of bribery and extortion surrounding a high-profile drug trafficking case. Aryan Khan’s arrest in a drug extortion scandal caused uproar in the media, but he later received a clean chit. However, the CBI filed an FIR against Sameer Wankhede and several NCB officials for alleged bribery and extortion targeting the Khan family. Recent reports suggest that the CBI will summon Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan to provide their statements regarding the extortion allegations.
The CBI deems the statements of the Khan family essential, believing they hold crucial evidence. An official stated, “We will soon record the statements of Aryan Khan, who the NCB arrested, and Shah Rukh Khan, from whom Rs. 25 crores were demanded by the accused at the behest of Wankhede. Recording their statements is necessary to get to the bottom of the conspiracy.”
Shah Rukh Khan faced scrutiny when his son was allegedly arrested for drug possession, but Aryan Khan was later released on bail and cleared of all charges. In the meantime, Sameer Wankhede, once a leading figure in the investigation, is now under investigation himself for allegations of extortion and bribery involving the Khan family.
Additionally, the CBI has filed an FIR against former NCB superintendent Vishwa Vijay Singh, intelligence officer Ashish Ranjan, and two others implicated in the extortion case.
